How to use this reference: Part 9 of the N-400 contains many legal and official words that are not common in everyday conversation. This list explains what those words mean in plain language. Understanding them helps you know whether a question may apply to your situation. This document does not give legal advice. If any question in Part 9 may apply to your situation — especially questions about arrests, criminal records, or immigration proceedings — consult an immigration attorney or accredited representative before completing the form.
